Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is optional
Customer is liable for the full value of the Avis vehicle if Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is not taken. If CDW is purchased, the renter's liability is reduced to $300.00. If you have Damage Waiver (CDW) and the vehicle or any vehicle documents are damaged, the amount you have to pay for the damage will be reduced to no more than the excess stated on your rental agreement meaning you'll pay for the cost of repair or replacement plus a damage processing fee of 300,000 WON or the excess, whichever is less. If you can show the damage was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will refund these costs to you. If you can show the damage was less than we said, we will refund you the difference.
Theft Protection (TP) is included with purchase of CDW
Note: If you require additional insurance coverage you may purchase locally to reduce/remove the insurance excess. Just ask at the Avis rental desk when you collect your car.

Drivers License
Requirement to bring a valid driving licence with you.
In the Republic of Korea,
all drivers must bring their valid International driving Permits with them.
The IDP must be less than 1 year from issuance, issued from an embassy or consulate, and the country must be registered to the Geneva or Vienna Convention..
Only paper IDPs are accepted, and plastic driver's licenses are not valid.
A local license translated to English cannot substitute the IDP.
* EU Driver's license, International Drive License and International Driving Document is not accepted in Korea.
Minimum licence requirements
All drivers must have held their licence for at least 1 year from the date of pick-up.
If a licence does not show the driver has held it for the minimum period, then they must provide evidence, such as:
- previous driving licences; or
- a letter from their driving licence authority stating that they have held it for this minimum period.
Personal Accident Insurance
Public Liability and Property Damage
Public liability insurance is in accordance with the insurance laws of the country. Customer may inquire at the time of rental for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance.
Note: Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles. The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental. Any waiver must be discussed directly with the location upon arrival.
